Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapists provide treatment for children who have delayed gross motor skills and/or lack flexibility, strength or endurance.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Pediatric Physical Therapy


    Treatment includes exercises that improve strength, balance, coordination,

   and endurance.  Goals of therapy focus on helping children improve their function,

   mobility, relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.

   Therapists teach children to use assistive and adaptive devices, such as crutches,

   walkers and wheelchairs. They also evaluate and make recommendations for

   orthotics.
 

 

Physical Therapy Treatment may include:

  • Neurodevelopmental Therapy Techniques (NDT)

  • Neuro-Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)

  • TheraSuit Therapy

  • Partial Weight Bearing Treadmill Training utilizing the Walkable Harness System

How to identify if your child could benefit from a Physical Therapy Evaluation:


 

 

 

 

 

 
  • Delayed or difficulty with gross motor skills

  • Using one side of the body more that the other

  • Poor posture

  • Balance problems

  • Decreased strength or endurance

  • Activity level that is unusually high or low

  • Over or under reaction to touch or noises

  • Need for orthotics
